Play the odds, not the feeling.

Basic strategy is the mathematically correct play for every hand, worked out from millions of simulated rounds. It won't guarantee a win, but it lowers the house edge to under 1% on most tables — far better than playing by instinct.

+1Low cards

2 through 6 add one to the count. More of these left in the shoe favors the dealer, so a low count means fewer of them remain.

0Neutral cards

7, 8 and 9 don't move the count. They're common enough not to sway the shoe either way.

− 1High cards

10s, face cards and aces subtract one. More of these left in the shoe favors the player — bigger blackjack payouts, better doubles.

This is the Hi-Lo system, the most widely taught way to track a shoe: keep a running total as cards are dealt, then divide by the decks remaining to get a “true count.” A higher true count means the deck favors the player. Counting is legal — it's just arithmetic — but it only works on a physical shoe that isn't reshuffled every hand. Online RNG and most live-dealer tables shuffle continuously, which is why basic strategy below is the more useful tool for online play.

In Blackjack, there is no guaranteed winning strategy that ensures a win in every round, as the casino always maintains a mathematical house edge. However, you can lower this house edge to under 0.5% by utilizing the mathematically calculated Basic Strategy.
⚠️ Important Notice: Blackjack is and remains a game of chance. There is always a risk of total capital loss. Never bet money you cannot afford to lose, and please gamble responsibly.
📊 The Mathematical Basic Strategy
Basic strategy dictates the statistically best decision for every possible card combination (your hand versus the dealer's upcard). These rules are based purely on probability calculations:

Your Hand Dealer's Upcard Your Optimal Action

Hard Hand (without an Ace)
5 to 8 points Any card Hit
9 points 3 to 6 Double Down
10 or 11 points 2 to 9 (or 10) Double Down
12 to 16 points 2 to 6 Stand (High chance the dealer will bust)
12 to 16 points 7 to Ace Hit (High risk for you)
17 points or more Any card Stand
Soft Hand (with an Ace)
Soft 13 to Soft 17 Any card Hit or Double Down against low dealer cards
Soft 19 or more Any card Stand
Pairs
A pair of Aces or 8s Any card Always Split
A pair of 4s, 5s, or 10s Any card Never Split

💡 Essential Table Etiquette & Rules of Conduct
Beyond pure mathematics, disciplined bankroll management helps you maximize your chances and minimize losses:
• Never take Insurance: When the dealer shows an Ace, you are offered insurance against a dealer Blackjack. Mathematically speaking, this side bet carries an extremely high house edge and is a losing proposition in the long run.
• Keep an eye on the Dealer: The dealer must follow strict rules (typically hitting on 16 and standing on 17). If the dealer shows a weak upcard (4, 5, or 6), their probability of busting is high. Adjust your risk accordingly.
• Avoid progressive betting systems: Systems like the Martingale system (doubling your bet after every loss) do not work long-term. They quickly fail due to table limits or an extended losing streak, resulting in a total loss of your bankroll.
• Card Counting: This is the only method professionals use to completely flip the house edge in their favor (such as the famous Hi-Lo system). It involves tracking high and low cards in your head to know when the deck is rich in 10-value cards. Warning: Modern casinos make this nearly impossible by using Continuous Shuffling Machines (CSMs) or shuffling very early in online live games. Furthermore, card counting will get you banned or barred from physical casinos.
